However, one thing that’s always struck me as odd is that while Louie’s ex-wife, played by actress Susan Kelechi Watson, is obviously African-American — Louie’s daughters, Jane and Lilly, are white.
And not just white, but fair-skinned, blonde haired Nordic-looking white. So what was the logic behind this? Business Insider spoke with Louie’s casting director, Gayle Keller on the subject, and she shed some light onto the decision:
“We play around with ethnicities. Janet is African American, but both of their kids are white and Louie’s white so how does that work? Look, it probably doesn’t make sense but Louie wanted to cast someone to play his on-screen ex-wife who was unlike his real ex-wife,” casting director Gayle Keller tells Business Insider. “He didn’t want that much reality in this show.”
“We auditioned people who were African American and white, we auditioned both,” explains Keller. “We didn’t limit ourselves to someone who was just Caucasian. Louis just felt that the woman who we cast [Watson] was best for the part and she happened to be African American and he didn’t care about that. He didn’t feel like he had to explain that in any way and have two Caucasian children and an African American wife.”
Keller also revealed why they made the decision to make Janet white in the season four flashback, saying that they auditioned actresses who were African American, Caucasian, and Asian. I actually did not even realize that was supposed to be Janet, and figured it was some other ex-wife that came before Janet, which is exactly why I don’t write think pieces on Louie.
“Ethnicity is not what was important for that role,” says Keller. “It was more about the fact that we wanted someone who just understood the character immediately. 同意。但我必须诚恳地说出我的喜欢：我甚至都不想看第二遍，生怕折损了第一次看时的感觉。
就像路易形容对斯嘉丽·约翰逊的无与伦比的喜欢：我甚至都不会对着她撸。
很容易把 Louie 叫做喜剧。大概因为路易在剧里的角色也是喜剧演员，像低配版的他本人。有些集以 stand-up 开始、stand-up 结束，像宋飞正传的格式。
不过大部分时候，根本不为了笑。

我很喜欢 s3e3, 一种（直男间的）亲密感危机。路易在迈阿密结识了个很好的小伙儿， 为了能和他多玩两天，改变了原定行程。小伙儿委婉地表达了疑惑，路易想解释又不知从何说起，两人云遮雾罩地推挡了半天，原地解散。
随后我做了一个梦。我是男的，有一个好基友，我俩在海里游泳，像路易和小伙儿一样。我们偷偷潜入敌人船上，被发现后又跳回海里，刺激又自由，毫无顾忌。这种感觉怎么讲，但愿长梦不复醒吧。
路易的好感不总是无疾而终，s3e5 的大部分就关于他人即天堂。“她”解放了路易，如你生命中许多人解放过你。
“真理总是先惹毛你，然后解放你。”解放你的人也一样。珍惜不可重复的体验，感谢解放过你的人。
我没能力形容这一集的好。最后夜深了，她和路易爬上某个楼顶，城市美丽。她坐在大楼边缘却让人安心，有大欢喜的神采，散发光芒。
如果停在这里，e5 就是一集童话，她就是天外飞仙。
但还没完。周遭世界猛然聚拢，她坍缩成她自己，重新出现在此时此地，受了钝痛，像梦醒的最后一重。惶惑的表情从她脸上浮现。
为了这个表情，我爱死了这一集。
S3e7, 路易再一次正面遭遇人到中年。
路易在电视机前翻台，翻到喜剧频道，八十年代节目回放。只见年轻的路易 C.K. 走上台，英姿勃发，生命指数五颗星。声音由于想要压住场子而故作深沉，但本质是在一桩紧致结实的身体里共鸣。
他说，“I have red hair.”
简直“是挑事儿啊。路易打开笔记本的前置摄像头：惨淡肥脸，头发褪色且退后。不远处电视屏幕上那个小伙儿还在继续表演年轻真好。
以上是 e7 中间的一个微小情节，连接了两段不相干的故事。有时一集看过之后让我反复想起的就是这些细节。
S3e9 里面路易家闹了一场乌龙。警察忙了半天结果什么事没有，路易赶紧道歉并掏出点零钱想要递过去，警察瞪他一眼走了。
给小费被拒的尴尬，我也遇到过。看了这段之后舒心多了！不识相的人那么多，我只是其中一个……
路易在 s3e13 没有预谋地飞到了北京，寻找长江（？？）他出现在红星二锅头的广告牌前（和张铁林同框），他来到朝外大街，胡同，菜市场，他被好心人用河北牌照的三蹦子带到郊区的一条小河沟。
剧中的路易很少耍嘴皮子，很多笨嘴拙舌，捉襟见肘。想听笑话？看 stand-up 好了。Louie 的重点不在嘴皮子。
剧情设计有时特意阻碍了语言的功能。比如 e13，被问路的中国老大爷看到路易胡乱比划，干脆带他打了几招太极。在第四季中这种探索走得更远——路易遇到一个来自东欧的女人，两人语言不通，没给巧舌如簧留下任何余地。大量的无台词段落、无效沟通情景。
这样，在看到他真心实意的自我推销、豁出去了的谈笑风生、放下戒备的嬉笑怒骂还能起到作用时，你会特别高兴。
这是熟脸客串最多的一季。E6 的罗宾·威廉姆斯，e7 的 Sarah Silverman（常客），e10-12 的大卫·林奇，大下巴，Chris Rock, 苏珊·萨兰登，宋飞，还有 The Wire 里的 “shiiiit” 哥等等。
在 Louie 中寻找熟悉感并不容易。除了路易自己，再没稳定的主角。这首先有一份独角戏的孤独感。我好像没看过其他单一主角的剧。两个小女儿出现的集数大约一半，红颜知己 Pamela 只是偶尔主场。人物流水一般来了就走，有的就此消失，有的还会回来，更有的刚回来嘎嘣就死了。
连父母都是陌生感的来源，无论是第一季里面不加铺垫直接出柜的母亲，还是因为路易无法面对而从没露面的父亲。路易拒绝以和解作为结局。
S3e8, 路易在去波士顿看望老爹的途中，导航仪开口说话了：“在胡桃街左转，去你爹的房子。你错过去你爹房子的路口了。为什么你在这事儿上跟小弱鸡一样？他是你爹。又不是说他摸过你鸡鸡还是啥的。……你干嘛对我吼，我压根儿不是真的。”
神来之笔。超现实段落很多，让你时常体会生活的失控感。而失控感又很现实。
我们把圆满的结局叫做俗套。季终，在一户京郊农家的小饭桌上，路易脱离了在纽约公寓的被窝里独自跨年的惯性，被异域的热情环绕。俗不俗随便吧，路易开心就好。
修理无眼布偶，技术含量高。怒叫：“Shit on my father's balls！”
请来Amy Poehler客串大姐，回敬Amy请Louie到Parks and Rec客串戆直警察叔叔。
Louie为寻扬子江飞到北京，终与村民同乐，生命如此随机，扬子江是否在京已不再重要。
《茉莉花》和《友谊地久天长》两首本是播到滥俗的歌，很神奇地，突然悠远起来。
如果你抱着看俊男美女的态度，我想这部剧不适合你，甚至你抱着轻松笑一笑的心态，这部剧也不一定适合你，你想找那种看一分钟就可以笑得肚子痛的料，还是出门左转看老友记，或者右转看摩登家庭。路易就是这样的剧，它可以让你笑，却不会让你笑得轻松，正如每一集那些单口相声，又有多少不熟谙美国民间文化的中国人能够完全听懂？
你发现到了这个年龄，还单着的，除了被剩下的，就是有点变态的，主动剩下的基本都是同性恋，其余那么一两个，基本也都是心理装着这辈子也忘不掉的人。当你发现那些比你年轻的屌丝们都可以不拿正眼瞧你，你还有多少理由去再爱一场？就算你知道谁是真的婊子，对着镜子中自己都不敢面对的衰老容颜还有什么信心与之对抗？当你鼓起勇气去一场很久没有的约会，却发现对那种场合早已生疏，不如回家烧两个菜看着女儿吃这样过新年来的实在。当你把“wave”听成“wait”，说明你内心对爱还残留期待，只是远处挥手的她注定不是对的人。你或许比那个流落街头的老友过的好那么一点，但你能做的也只是请他吃一顿饭，然后告诉他：女儿还在家等我，我得告辞了。当你满心欢喜认为事业有了转机多年的辛劳得偿所愿，走到最后才发现自己只不过是一枚棋子，平步青云这种事永远都是传说。
可是还好，你虽然一辈子赚的钱也不足以让自己和家人住上梦寐以求的别墅，但也不至于交不起节节高升的房租；你虽然没有爱自己的工作到爱不释手，但好歹还算熟能生巧有所擅长；你虽然无法奢望有个既懂你又爱你又能和你做爱的人一直陪你走到最后，但至少时不时有炮可打，毕竟尽管年龄见长身材走样，但也不算是劣等货色，时不时还有三两好友可以一起喝酒吐槽网上聊天互相诋毁，然后临了时说一句：bitch，我爱你。你没有愿景中那么自由，但偶尔也会疯狂一回，从脏衣服乱糟糟的家和一大堆垃圾食品里走出来，心血来潮的订一张打折的机票，靠着谷歌地图和陌生人的微笑度过一个偷来的假期。
是的，你还活着，你不对未来抱有太高的希望，但也不代表就因此放弃了生活的理想。Louie，就算你是一个loser，也是一个幸运的loser，我何尝不是呢。
